Air360, an audience levitation performed at 360°

A member of the audience lies down and leaves the ground, in the middle of the guests, a few steps from the front row. Air360 is a grand illusion designed and built in Lyon, France, by Apparatum, for magicians who want to perform it anywhere: close-up, on stage, at weddings or at corporate events.

What the audience sees

The magician invites someone from the crowd. They lie down, then rise slowly and horizontally, with no elevator feel. The spectators are all around, close enough to touch, and many of them are filming on their phones.

That is what sets Air360 apart from classic stage levitations: no curtain, no wings, no angles to protect. The illusion happens in the middle of the room, where a grand illusion usually has no place.

What changes compared with existing levitations

Air360 keeps the effect and rethinks everything else: the mechanics, the drive and the way it is controlled.

A machine followed for life

Every unit receives an engraved brass serial plate and the workshop’s seal. Its number follows it for life in our register: commissioning date, owner, cycle counter, services and parts replaced.

The machine counts its cycles: it knows how many times it has performed and when it needs a service. If it is resold, it changes hands in the register and keeps its full history.

Designed and built in Lyon, France

Apparatum designs and builds its illusions the way one builds an instrument: so that they work on the two-hundredth night as they did on the first. Three trades meet in Air360: precision mechanics, embedded electronics and a proprietary drive system of our own design.

Every part is drawn, dimensioned, then produced through an industrial process. Every machine is assembled in France and passes a final inspection in the workshop before it ships from Lyon, within France or worldwide.

Heir to the Spontus 360

Air360 descends from the Spontus 360, the first levitation of a spectator visible from every side, created by the French inventor Olivier Guernion. Hugo Marceau was one of its last buyers. We took it up again with industrial tooling, under a new name, with the blessing of Thérèse Hautot, his partner.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an Air360 cost?

€4,000 excluding VAT for the first series. It is a launch price and it will rise afterwards. Options, lead time and shipping are set out in the quote, in euros or US dollars.

Can it be performed fully surrounded?

Yes, that is the whole point. Air360 is performed at 360°, with spectators all around and a few steps away, with no curtain or wings.

Do I need a technician to run it?

No. It starts from a remote control. If you work with a tech crew, it can be run from QLab, so that the levitation and the music start together, and it accepts MIDI inputs.

Is it suitable for a close-up magician?

Yes. It was designed with you in mind: a grand illusion finale after your close-up set, and one more service to offer your clients.

Why don’t you show the mechanism?

Because the craft demands it, and we owe it to those who will perform it. Technical information is shared after a non-disclosure agreement has been signed.

Do you ship to the US and worldwide?

Yes. Air360 ships from Lyon, France, to the rest of the world, and the quote can be issued in US dollars.

Can I return an Air360?

Yes. In France, you have 14 days from delivery to send the machine back. Return shipping is paid by the buyer.

What about maintenance?

The machine counts its cycles and tells you when a service is due. Wear parts are tracked one by one, and every machine delivered benefits from Air360’s improvements.

Do you offer training?

Yes: two days in our workshops to set up the machine with you and build the staging, the cue list and the music. Dates and funding arrangements are being finalised; mention it in your enquiry if you want to be told.

Let’s talk about your next act.

Every enquiry is read and answered personally. Tell us where you perform and what you have in mind.
